Achievements

In March 2008, during our highly successful OxClean Spring Clean 2008 event, 1,500 volunteers from nearly 100 local groups and schools, together with Oxford City Council, had great fun, moving:

  • 990 kg of recyclable material – roughly equivalent to 250 household collections
  • 7,580 kg of landfill material – roughly equivalent to 500 household collections
  • 3,000 kg of scrap metal

39 primary and secondary schools took part in OxClean’s Schools’Anti-Litter Campaign, for the academic year 2007-8.

We were closely involved in the debate about litter problems in the Cornmarket, encouraging partnership and co-operation between Oxford City Council, local businesses (particularly fast food outlets) and consumers.
