Activity
In partnership with Oxford City Council and the Oxford Times, we have embarked on a series of new initiatives that are designed to tackle the growing litter problem that is blighting our city.
- in November 2007 we established OxClean – an initiative dedicated to cleaning up Oxford and keeping the city clean and tidy all year round
- in March 2008, we initiated and co-ordinated an inaugural Spring Clean, which is now planned to be an annual OxClean event
- the OxClean Schools’ Anti-Litter Campaign carries out a programme of termly continuous assessments amongst primary and secondary schools across the city; this culminates in the award of a shield to the winning secondary school and graded Certificates of Merit to primary schools, at the end of each school year
- in 2008, OxClean launched “Don’t Drop It” – three preventative campaigns to tackle the litter problems caused by eating and drinking on-the-go, cigarette ends on our streets, and fly-tipping
