Achievements
Nearly 100 local groups, fielding 1,500 volunteers between them, joined OxClean’s Spring Clean 2008 initiative in March. This 3-day event was hugely successful, thanks to the excellent support of our partners Oxford City Council and The Oxford Times. Working together, we collected:
- 990 kg of recyclable material – roughly equivalent to 250 household collections
- 7,580 kg of landfill material – roughly equivalent to 500 household collections
- 3,000 kg of scrap metal – most of this was not planned for, yet City Works responded to the task and cleared it all away

Now an annual event designed to change littering behaviour and reduce the amount of litter generated, SpringClean 2009 will take place on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th March.
