Activity
The range of activities encompassed by the Society is diverse:
- contributing ideas and views to major city development such as ‘The West End of Oxford’ and ‘The Radcliffe Infirmary Site’
- special projects relating to Oxford’s street scene, signage and sustainability
- the regular scrutiny of planning applications
- ad hoc mailings to members
- arranging a year-round programme of walks, talks and visits
- initiating and co-ordinating OxClean – the Society’s city-wide anti-litter campaign
Regular meetings provide the framework of communications that binds the operation together; relaxed working sessions and discussions occur informally depending on the work in hand.
There is plenty of scope for creative thinking as new priorities are identified and adopted. Overall, there is a strong sense of shared purpose in safeguarding and enhancing this magnificent city.
