From the Honorary Secretary |

CITY COUNCIL CONSULTATIONS |
The City Council have recently opened consultations on the City’s Housing Strategy. They will shortly be consulting on the Barton Area development. There is also a consultation on next year’s budget and the Corporate Plan: http://consultation.oxford.gov.uk/consult.ti/system/calendar
We plan to comment on 1 & 2 and, if we’ve got time, 3!. |
SPRING CLEAN 2012 |
This is our 5th Spring Clean event and we think Oxford is looking all the better for it. It is a great way to meet the neighbours and make an impact. Why not form a group, or join an existing one, or join us on one of the OCS organised litter picks. See our website for details. |
LONELINESS |
Age UK Oxfordshire, Counsel and Care, Independent Age and WRVS have invited OCS to join them to plan a campaign to combat loneliness. They see our Street Parties as one way of giving the lonely an opportunity to engage. If you have expertise or ideas in this area. Do let me know. |
The future of Oxford, viewed through the lens of the past |
This is the title of our first talk of 2012, to be given by John Melvin an award winning architect and town planner on Thursday February 9th. For details see the programme.

iMeasure |
One of the suggestions at our Energy Seminar was that we could help Oxford University and ourselves by providing regular meter readings to a group called iMeasure. I signed up a while ago and find the process pretty painless. The prediction they give you of last week’s likely gas bill can be painful. |
COMMUNITY e-BULLETIN |
From time to time we receive notices of what other organisations are doing with requests to ‘pass this on to your members’. Rather than burden you with more emails, we’ve set up a Community eBulletin on our website. Amongst other items it currently features talks being given by our old friend John Ashdown. |
