We launched OxClean in 2008.  This campaign aims to clean up Oxford and keep the city clean all year round. We co-ordinate an annual city-wide Spring Clean, run a year-round Schools’ Anti-Litter Campaign and education programme, and drive an ongoing Don't Drop It campaign aimed at reducing litter caused by on-the-go eating and drinking and cigarette butts.  Car litter is a major problem especially around the ring road.  We encourage Oxford citizens to report incidents of people littering from their cars and other vehicles to the Keep Britain Tidy Car Litter Campaign.

The aim of this campaign is to remind people that streets are valuable social spaces for all to use and enjoy. Two events were planned to help make our streets friendlier, more pleasant and safer: Street Parties was held over a weekend in September and proved highly successful; Oxford Walk & Talk 2009 was launched as a new element of Open Streets, although each city centre ‘walkabout’ remains permanently available from this website, to be enjoyed at anytime.

As part of our campaign to declutter the city’s streets we published a report Signage in Central Oxford. As a result, we welcome the significant improvements that were made: the Carfax end of the High Street is one notable example
